1)Take a stroll through Heisler Park
Heisler Park is a slice of coastal paradise that you’re bound to fall in love with at first sight.
As you stroll along the winding pathways, take in the breathtaking ocean views, perfectly landscaped gardens and charming gazebos along the way. There are numerous grassy areas and picnic spots to relax at if you feel like taking a break.
2)Have Lunch at Zeytoon rooftop
Right across the street from Heisler Park is Zeytoon Cafe – a casual Mediterranean restaurant with a beautiful sunny rooftop.
One of the best things on their menu is the Shawarma bowl which is served on a bed of housemade hummus with cucumber tomato salad and garlic sauce. It goes great with a side of pita to soak up all the delicious chickpea goodness.
3)Stop for a coffee
Laguna Beach has a wide range of great coffee shops, many of which have nice patios to enjoy the sunshine.
Urth Cafe is a beloved Los Angeles institution, known for its organic and sustainably sourced coffee and artisanal dishes. They have several locations, and luckily they have one with a beautiful patio right here in Laguna.
Laguna Coffee Company is a cozy beachside cafe with house-roasted beans that is known for its and laid-back, surf-inspired atmosphere. They’re also at the local farmer’s market every Saturday morning from 8-noon where they serve hot or iced coffee and beans for sale.
With 4 locations across Southern California, Zinc is a chain that is loved by locals for its delicious food, coffee, and specialty goods. Zinc Laguna Beach is their first location and has been a favorite among the locals for over 33 years.
4)Visit a Beach
Home to over 30 breathtaking beaches – this should be top of your list when visiting Laguna.
Main Beach is in the heart of the town and where you’ll find everything you need for a beach day. It has golden sands, sparkling waters, tide pools and a boardwalk with snacks and ice cream. There are basketball and volleyball courts for the sports enthusiasts. This is also one of the best beaches to enjoy a SoCal sunset.
Victoria Beach is a hidden coastal gem that’s perfect for those seeking a more secluded beach experience. Tucked away from the bustling crowds, this cove offers a unique and picturesque setting. Be prepared for a short but steep staircase descent down to the beach, which adds to the feeling of discovering a hidden paradise. The star attraction here is the historic Victorian turret known as the “Pirate Tower,” which stands tall against the backdrop of the cliffs. It’s not only a great photo opp but also a glimpse into local history. Also known for its tidepools, be sure to go when it’s low tide to get the most out of your experience here.
Parking is tricky in the area – if you’re lucky you’ll snag a spot around Nye’s Place but it’s often fully jammed. I would recommend parking in town and taking an Uber to the beach to avoid this.
1000 Steps Beach is a local favorite that’s as stunning as it is intriguing. Despite the name, there are actually only around 200 steps leading down to this hidden paradise. At the top of the stairwell, there’s a beautiful view of the Pacific Ocean that’s perfect for taking in the salty breeze and snapping photos. Once you reach the bottom, you’ll discover a cove beach known for its scenic beauty and relatively quiet atmosphere compared to some of the more popular spots in Laguna. The unique rock formations and caves along the shoreline add an element of adventure to your visit.
5)Go shopping
Laguna Beach is the perfect destination for small shops and boutiques with a beachy charm.
Start your retail therapy at the Promenade on Forest Avenue, a pedestrian-only plaza where you’ll find a mix of upscale boutiques and unique shops. Make sure to stop by Hobie Surf Shop, they have a great mix of stylish clothing, home decor, and books.
If you’re looking for beachy fashion and surf culture, head to Pacific Coast Highway. Here, you’ll encounter a variety of surf shops and casual boutiques, perfect for picking up stylish beachwear, flip-flops, and accessories that capture the essence of Laguna’s coastal lifestyle.
Laguna Beach Farmers’ Market, held every Saturday is a must-see if you visit on a weekend. You’ll find fresh produce, gourmet foods, and artisanal products, making it an awesome place to sample local flavors and bring a piece of Laguna’s culinary scene back with you.
